How Gentle Is The Electric Dog Fence?

There are a few pet owners who want to understand how an electric invisible fence works, and if it harms their dogs. An invisible fence gives off an electric shock, however this is not a true description and so projects a false image. On the other hand, there are people who campaign against any form of stick and carrot method to train a dog and who misunderstand how electronic training devices really work.

When you study how a wireless or underground PetSafe fence works, you will understand how humane they are. The correction a dog receives is similar to a static shock and is designed to startle or certainly get your dogs attention. It is no different to the way the mother dog disciplines her pups. If a puppy is doing something which displeases the mother, she will give the puppy a nip on the neck. The puppy soon gets the message and corrects its behavior. And so you will find the electric dog fence works in a similar fashion, as soon as the dog tries to go where it shouldn’t, it receives a static shock. No harm comes to the pet, and it works well at keeping it within the boundary.

The problem for many dog owners is that their dog likes to jump over the fence or dig holes underneath it to try and escape. What compounds this problem is that many dogs just do not take to conventional training to stop it from doing this bad behavior. So what are your options; don’t let the dog out or chain it up. Now that is what I call being inhumane.

A dog fence is not cheap and so dog owners do not make a decision to buy these lightly. So you find them buying a dog fence as they do not have any other options, especially if their pet dog doubles up as a guard dog because you want them to patrol your grounds. If a dog does escape it runs the risk of being run over if it gets out on the road and I have heard some people who get into a lot of hot water because their dogs escape and chase other pets or farm animals. If a farmer catches a dog chasing his animals, then he has every right to shoot it dead. If you are faced with these problems, you can appreciate why an invisible dog fence is a good solution.

The good news is that these invisible dog fences are a piece of cake to get up and running. You can have as many dogs as you want being contained by them, and they are unobtrusive.
