How Does an Invisible Dog Fence Stop a Dog Escaping Over The Fence?

An invisible dog fence is exactly that, it is concealed, you cannot touch it see it or feel it. But it does a good job at keeping your dog in the backyard. The main characteristic of an invisible dog fence is, you can set a boundary where your dog can stroll around in.

Typically, the invisible dog fence is used in a couple of situations. The first one is if you have a dog that just loves to escape from your garden or backyard. We are referring to the ingenious dog who acquires extra ordinary abilities, which allow them to escape through mouse holes, tunnel underneath like a coal miner or jump the fence like the best hurdler. If you have one of these dogs then it is extremely difficult preventing it from escaping. What can you do, you can go out and spend many hundreds of dollars on security fences, which are very high, they have to go underground and can ruin your vista.

The second situation where you would use a dog fence, is if you have a plot of land, but you do not want your dog to have free reign over all of it. You may want to restrict your dog from going to toilet in certain areas, perhaps where your young children play or where you want to protect your grassed lawn. If you like taking vacations with your dog then a wireless fence must be an essential piece of equipment to take with you. You can create an instant fence, set it to cover an area from 30 to 180 feet, you strap the receiver collar to your pet’s neck and within a couple of minutes your dog can go and run around on its own.

The main problem with an invisible dog fence is that it is invisible! The dog fence has two ways it can operate. You can have cable which you can lay underground which then becomes the boundary perimeter, or you can have a wireless fence and a boundary is created using a radio signal. The dog wears an electronic collar and when it approaches the boundary the collar receives a signal and emits an audible warning bleep. Should your dog not turn back, and gets even closer to the invisible dog fence then the electronic collar will deliver a soft electric shock. This type of negative correction is very effective, and it will stop your dog from going across the perimeter boundary.

So you and your dog know where the actual boundary is, you get a set of flags with the invisible dog fence. You plant these boundary flags equally spaced out around the edge of the border, they will associate the flags with the boundary after the training and will know not to go beyond that point. The invisible dog fence is delivered as a complete kit and includes a 14 day training schedule.
